This season is a time to celebrate the day of our redeemer, the light of the world, the Lord Jesus. We want to take the time to share why our joy is so complete and invite you to consider why this time is so special. John 1:1-8 is the focus of our joy.
Here we see Christ’s eternality.
● Christ eternally existed “was” (in the Greek it means “always was”- uncreated and uncaused). John 1:1
● Christ eternally existed with God as the second person of the Godhead. (in the Greek literally means “face to face” or “with god” “bosom of the Father” implies intimacy and love between Father and Son. John 1:18
● Christ eternally existed as God. ( “God was the Word”) and connects to the creation account in Genesis 1:1.
Jesus brought all things into existence and was the agent of Creation. John 1:3,10. (and Colossians 1:15-17)
Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us, taking on a human body, including human physiology and psychology. John 1:14.
● Christ came in the form of a servant. Philippians 2:3-11
● Christ became a man, something He never was, while not ceasing being God. The Word is the self-expression of God. John 14:9.
● Christ, who knew no sin, became sin for us. 2 Corinthians 5:21
● Christ’s coming reveals God’s Love. He came to rescue and redeem, and to vanquish death through the resurrection. John 3:16,17, John 1:4,5.There is an invitation for you. John 1:12, John 14:1-4
